GREENSBORO, NC — 19 March, 2009... Leading aircraft seat manufacturer Brice Seating, a division of TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc. (“TIMCO”), announced today that it has successfully completed 16G HIC testing on its FeatherWeight™ line of aircraft seating products. The Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) mandates that in order to meet the certification requirements of 14 CFR Parts 25.562 and 29.562, aircraft seats must protect occupants from serious head injury. Brice Seating’s FeatherWeight™ line of seats successfully demonstrated an ability to protect its occupants at the newly-elevated 16G HIC standard.
Each of Brice Seating’s FeatherWeight™ seat configurations, including the three-seat exit row on an A320 aircraft, were successfully tested on the 16G HIC standard. In fact, this accomplishment makes Brice Seating the first seat OEM to offer an exit row seat product for A320 aircraft that meets this heightened criterion.
Rick Salanitri, Executive Vice President of TIMCO and President of TIMCO Aerosystems, LLC and Brice Seating, observed,"Meeting the new, high safety standard has been a critical goal for our product development team. We are especially proud to announce this accomplishment for a product line that has already built strong customer interest due to its weight savings and passenger comfort attributes."
Through Brice Seating, TIMCO Aerosystems supports leading airline customers with innovative seating design and manufactured solutions, including the new FeatherWeight™ series of weight-saving seats. TIMCO Aerosystems, also part of the TIMCO Aviation Services family, is one of a select few providers that can support its customers through every facet of the interior modification process, from state-of-the-art design and engineering to systems and structures manufacture, integration and certification.
